How to Perform a SWOT Analysis?
To conduct a SWOT analysis, follow these steps:
- Define your Mission: Define your mission statement to identify your organization's purpose or commitment to your stakeholders. Your mission statement should capture the essence of what your organization seeks to accomplish by addressing the needs of whom you serve
- Undertake a Situation Analysis: Use your organization's documents and research visual aids to understand your organization's internal landscape.
- Record the SWOT Factors: Identify internal strengths and weaknesses and external opportunities and threats through brainstorming and analysis and then list them in separate boxes for clarity.
- Assess the SWOT Factors: Evaluate each of your SWOT factors, categorizing them into opportunities and threats while analyzing strength and weakness. Determine how to maximize opportunities, mitigate threats, and further capitalize on strengths while working to remove weakness.
- Develop an Action Plan: Finally, develop an action plan based on your SWOT analysis. Plan complete with specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely objectives that helps your organization achieve your mission and vision.
