Every year, on the second Monday of October, Americans celebrate Columbus day, to celebrate the first landing on the Shores of the New World that later would become The Americas. This important federal holiday is greatly celebrated, and provides a lot of options to organize nice private and commercial events.

Columbus Day is a federal holiday in the United States and traditionally celebrated on the second Monday in October, to honor and recognize the great developments, works and contributions and achievements that took place since October 12, 1492 in the New World, as well they recognize contributions of the Americans from Italian decent. It became a public holiday on October 12 in the year 1792. Since this is a day people pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of Americans, it's a good opportunity to put extra attention on it event via social media, posters, presentations, etc.
