Motor Vehicle Bill of Sale

This basic Bill of Sale document enables you to transfer the ownership of a car, vehicle, or automobile from the seller to the buyer. A car bill of sale is the most commonly known bill of sale agreement. This free bill of sale template is designed for the sale of a car or vehicle.  The exact document you need depends on the country and state you are living in. It also depends on which kind of property you are selling. Both buyer and seller can make copies of the signed bill of sale to keep in their records. The new owner (buyer) must give the original bill of sale to the DMV with any other required proof of ownership. A bill of sale is not acceptable proof of ownership without other proof.

A bill of sale should at least include the following:

• Year and make of the vehicle.
• Vehicle identification number (VIN) or the hull identification number (HIN).
• Date of the sale.
• The agreed purchase price.
• Names and signatures of both the buyer and the seller
