Email Job Offer Rejection Letter
Review Rating Score
Rejecting a job offer can be done for many reasons. The pay may not be enough or it's less than what you were previously earning. You may not like the company or don't really like the people who you would be working for. These are valid reasons to decline a job offer. You are always entitled to that, but make sure the letter is kind and appreciative.
How do I write a rejection email after job interview?
Before sending a declination of the offer letter, make sure you are positive you do not want the job. If a scenario exists wherein you might take the job (such as a pay increase or other changes in the benefits package), first try to negotiate a counter offer. Once you send a rejection letter, there is almost no chance you will be offered the job again.
Your email should include the following:
- Expression of appreciation for the offer;
- Written rejection of the offer;
- Reasons for rejection job offer, for example, due to:
- Personal reasons;
- Salary too low;
- To long commute;
- Illness;
- A better offer.
Address the letter to the person who offered you the position. Include your contact information and phone number, even though it is on file with the employer. There's no need to give extensive details as to why you're declining the job. Do not include any potentially offensive reasons, such as a poor work environment or feeling uncertain about the company's long-term future and profitability.
However, it is appropriate to briefly mention a reason for turning the job down. For example, you might explain that you accepted another offer, decided it was best to stay at your current job, or felt that the position didn’t ultimately match your career goals. Whatever the case, keep your explanation brief.
Basic Job Rejection Email:
Dear Sir/Madam {{Name}},
I, {{Name}} am writing this letter to you in response to the job offer letter which I received on {{Date}}. The offer letter was for the position of a {{Position}} at {{Company}}. I am really sorry but I cannot accept the offer.
Sir, I am very honored to have received this job offer letter from you but I am rejecting it because I have already been employed by another workplace. {{Company}} is a popular store in {{Place}} and working here as a {{Position}} would have been a great opportunity for my career but I have already confirmed by job acceptance at {{Company}} and thus cannot accept your offer.
I hope that you will understand my decision and would not hold this against me. I would like to once again thank you for your kind offer and hope to work with you sometime in the future.
Yours sincerely,
