The third Monday in February is a special day in the United States of America. It's a day people celebrate, a tradition that goes a long way back.

What is Presidents Day and why is it celebrated?

Presidents Day found its origin in 1880 when the birthday of George Washington, who was back then the Commander of the Continental Army during the American Revolution, and also America's first president, was celebrated as a federal holiday. The celebration of Washington's birthday was first established in the year 1885, honoring his birthday on the 22nd of February.
